Ep. 211: The Soulful Renovations of House of Rolison
Co-founders of House of Rolison, Amanda Leigh and Taylor Hahn, grew up on opposite coasts but were both self-described angsty teens. Both had a deep love for art and architecture, choosing different professional paths before they met online and their fates intertwined. Their first date turned into a road trip and then quarantine-based cohabitation. Since starting House of Rolison, they’ve renovated a number of forgotten old homes into warm, elegant, modern beauties. Their complementary strengths and deep reverence for their crafts and trades crew, ensures that each new project has room for magic and a whole lot of soul.
What’s the best advice that you’ve ever gotten?
Amanda: Never love anything that can't love you back.
Taylor: No one knows what they're doing either.

What’s your current favorite tool or material to work with?
Amanda: We love using marble, it makes a huge statement and looks chic and elevated.
Taylor: One of our favorite materials is reclaimed wood - we try to make it a point to be sustainable in our designs.

Amanda: The Molecule of More

Favorite restaurant in your city?
Amanda: I love the restaurant at the Hotel Bel Air - the food is great and the vibe is beautiful.
Taylor: Oy Bar is my go-to.

Who do you look up to and why?
Amanda: My mom is the person that I look up to the most. She is one of the most hardworking people I know. She worked her way up the corporate ladder and is now an executive at an insurance firm. She is a respectable woman in a male-dominiated industry and I respect how she is able to command a room. I really admire my mom's tenacity, strong work ethic, and incredible public speaking skills.
Taylor: I admire and respect designer Leanne Ford. She is so endearing and innovative with what she creates, which we love and resonate with. Leanne always remains constant and doesn't stray away from her style.
